Cantina di Montalcino, established in 1970, is the only co-operative winery among the area. It has been recently restructured, with a modern architectural project in touch with the surrounding landscape: Cantina di Montalcino is one of the 25th Tuscan design wineries part of "New Art and Wine in Tuscany" project.
Spread out among 160 hectares of vineyards, Cantina di Montalcino relies on about 100 small farms. The territory of Montalcino is divided into four different sides, each with distinct climatic situations which characterize the wines. The vineyards of the growers of the co-operative Cantina di Montalcino are all located on these slopes and this guarantees the very good quality of the wine even in periods when weather conditions have not been very favourable.
